Kilo kicks off new design collaboration with Dear Leader

September 9, 2016

Dear Leader are expanding their base of collaborators around the globe in the fight for a range of human rights causes, and Kilo has now teamed up as future portfolio design partner. We’re proud to be on board in the fight against oppression, and we look forward to contributing to Dear Leader’s growing range of products that aim to make the world a better place.

Founded to support the idea of a free society for the people of North Korea, Dear Leader are makers of sunglasses who strive to make a difference through their human rights collaborations. The project was conceived when Johan Stahl travelled to North Korea in 2006 while working on the Sundance-winning 2010 film ‘The Red Chapel’’, and experienced first-hand the atrocities perpetrated against the North Korean people.

The Danish company can be found from today at the San Francisco Freedom Forum, supporting the event among a wide range of leaders, business pioneers, dissidents, technologists, activists, artists, and journalists, who are dedicated to making our world a more peaceful, prosperous and free place.

North Korean human rights activist Yeonmi Park, Cuban graffiti artist ‘El Sexto‘, Chinese civil rights activist Chen Guangcheng, and Saudi Arabian women’s rights campaigner Manal al-Sharif are among the collaborators we are working with and we are looking forward to the day we can unveil our first eyewear collection, planned for 2017.
